After freezers, blood banks are the latest targets of cyber attacks in France

A few days ago we were talking about how someone attacked the freezers and cold rooms of several supermarkets with the help of AI. In addition to economic and material damage, the comment is based on the idea that artificial intelligence is going to make it possible to attack devices that were not in the spotlight until now, but still refrigerators. The problem is when other refrigerators are attacked: blood bank samples for transfer purposes.

And it leaves a grim reading: nothing is safe and, above all, absolutely nothing will be respected.

what happened. As we see in El Pais, the French government has reported that the French National Blood Service (EFS) has been attacked. The criminals did not directly launch a cyber attack against EFS, but against Coolworld’s refrigeration equipment, the company that supplies freezers to the French company.

The method was similar to that of supermarket refrigerators: increasing the temperature threshold of the chambers from -30°C to 110°C. But of course, instead of poles, plasma samples were kept here for transfer.

A timely band-aid. The government assures that they have not lost anything because they closed the wound in time

A cyberattack overturned French supermarket refrigerators and another affected European chains.

In development…
