Mediaset is experimenting with a late-night ‘Barbenheimer’ of sorts, combining ‘Horizonte’ and ‘El Chiringuito’ on Wednesday.

On September 10, ‘El Chiringuito’ dropped to 3.2% on Energy, the lowest since its premiere on the channel. However, the previous night, the same program did 7.5% in Quattro. What is the difference between one emission and another? A typical channel reach, a Champions League match day and about two and a half hours of Iker Jimenez as the opening act. The latter is what Mediaset is going to try to replicate today.

For the third time. Repeat the formula tonight for the third time since September four. ‘Horizonte’ will air from 9:10 PM onwards. From 12:00 a.m. and, at midnight, ‘El Chiringuito’ leaves its channel energy from Monday to Thursday, to occupy late at night With a Champions League special until 2:25. The movie container ‘The Blockbuster’ is again off the grid, and the rally will feature PSG-Barcelona, Stuttgart-Atletico and Real Madrid-Leipzig. The scheme debuts with ‘Horizonte’ on September 9, 9:35 pm. and Pedrerol special at midnight, and was repeated on October 14 following the UEFA calendar religiously.

What is taken out? The insistence is amply justified by the audience results. On October 14, ‘Horizonte’ added 10.8% and 1,307,000 viewers. Access And 12.5% with 1,142,000 in 50 additional minutes, from 11:10 pm to midnight ‘El Chiringuito’ then gained 7.9% and 305,000 viewers, its best record since arriving on Mediaset. In a previous broadcast in September, the Access ‘Horizonte’ remained at 10.2%, its share Prime time 11.6% and Pedrerol by 7.5% mentioned above. They all grew on the second date.

Pedrerol left AtresMedia for Mediaset after 13 years, and his departure is a perfect reflection of the current battle between private companies.

worse in strength. On its usual channel, the talk show barely yielded half. As of September 25, ‘El Chiringuito’ averaged 4.2% on Energy and about 158,000 viewers, 1.8% of the channel’s audience for the month. That’s a jump from what Energy previously aired in that slot, but doesn’t compare to the format’s history: On Mega, with Atresmedia, it averaged 4% and 156,000 viewers last season. And although Pedrerol talked about “shifting the audience that followed them earlier to Mediaset,” and energy was with the premiere (5.2% and 189,000 viewers), the average was down one point after a month. That is, ‘El Chiringuito’ needs a generalist channel.

Inaugural work ‘Horizonte’ has been experiencing very significant growth in recent months based on expansion. Mediaset uploaded Iker Jimenez’s program Access Monday through Wednesday in January, initially for one month. In February, Jiménez announced live that the strip would continue “until God wills it”, and in the 2025–2026 season, which ended in June, the strip averaged 7.8% and 954,000 viewers, and was the most watched on Cuatro. From September 14, it starts at 9:10 pm. and is performed on Friday. In September, the Monday-Thursday strip grew 9.9% with 1,111,000 viewers and Prime time It averaged 12.1% and 860,000 on Thursday.

It comes long. The pair is not new either. On Sunday, ‘El Chiringuito’ enters Cuatro just after ‘Cuarto Millennium’. Its broadcast on Cuatro generated 6.4% and 239,000 viewers in August and 6.6% and 258,000 viewers in September. Regarding Icar Jimenez, Pedrerol said that “he could be a talk show host for El Chiringuito” and declared himself a “big fan”.

And unlike the pair opposite Barbenheimer, these two programs share a lot: a table of permanent collaborators, a presenter who moderates and provokes at the same time, analyzes current events live, and the discussion becomes a spectacle. The raw materials change, politics in one case and football in the other, but the audience that stays awake is until one looks for anger and statement in the spirit of a burning meme.

Telecinco Black Summer hits rock bottom in the most spectacular way, and signs off the day with the lowest viewership in its history.

Enemy at home. Curiously, the rival who is the most at that time plays at the same house. In the strict coincidence slot of October 14, from 11:13 PM to midnight, ‘Horizon’ did 12.5% and ‘Temptation Island’ 12%; starting at twelve, the reality Telecinco was most watched until about two o’clock. That is, Mediaset distributes its nightly audience between the two channels rather than adding them. The truth is that Cuatro closed September with 7.1%, its best September in 11 years, and Telecinco with 8.4%, supporting its steep decline in audience.

At the moment we have an appointment marked on the calendar: the next Champions Wednesday 4th November, day four. By then Mediaset will have an audience for three Horizonte-Chiringuito combos and an obvious question: Does the special have to stop being special?

In Xataka | Telecinco has ‘El Rosco’ but not ‘Pasapalabra’. Antenna 3 has ‘Pasapalabra’ but not ‘El Rosco’
