To celebrate the iPhone’s 10th anniversary in 2017, Apple launched an iPhone for the 20th anniversary next year, with rumors and leaks pointing to another major redesign, an iPhone 20, iPhone XX or whatever it’s called that will take the “all-screen front-facing” promise to the limit. The problem is that we have to reduce the quality of the selfie camera.
And the iPhone Duo has already shown us the price of these cuts.
Leaked so far. First, and as we always say, this is a leak, so things may change. In fact, the latest information that shows us is that one of those plans and intentions to create an iPhone with a completely clear front will already change. So far, what we know points to this:
- curved screen Four sides with a gentle curve, not the pronounced edges that Samsung used on some Galaxy models over the years.
- Frame and back Curved to improve grip, but with less metal than the current model.
- Back to the glass.
- Buttons that will be haptic That respects the almost “capsule” design.
- Front screen without dynamic island And with all the Face ID and front camera systems under the panel. There is a debate about this.

commitment. With the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple has already started experimenting with hiding critical Face ID systems under the panel, but it used the iPhone Duo as a test bed. The internal screen camera is below the panel and, as we have seen both in the analysis and in the numerous tests that appear these days, the quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Under-panel cameras are nothing new and in fact, ZTE has been experimenting with them for generations on mobile phones like the Nubia. Visually they are impressive because the completely clear front is very cool, but if you like to take selfies, you have to go through a very, very fair quality hoop. That promise in a mobile phone that doesn’t aim to be cheap and, furthermore, from a company like Apple that doesn’t want a reputational crisis is something that people on the block won’t be willing to assume.

half. This leads us to the latest leak reported by 9to5Mac. It is not known if the Dynamic Island will be the same size on the iPhone 20, but it will be present one way or another because the Face ID elements can be hidden if you want to maintain photographic quality, but not the camera.
The rest of the design plan, such as this change in material or the presence of curved edges and a screen that will blend between them, will be maintained, but the front will not be as “clean” as was initially desired. The technology is not ready yet.
Another option is to go straight back to the capacitive unlock button. It would be extremely rare for a “normal” iPhone to take a step back like that, since Face ID is not only convenient, but has become a security standard for the iPhone, but it would be a possibility for a commemorative model like the proposed model. The iPhone Duo lacks Face ID and relies on the side button.

way to go. In any case, we’ve already said that it’s early days and all of this is based on leaks from early production of the model and comments from Mark Gurman. We don’t have a commercial name, we don’t know if they will eventually put Dynamic Island components under the panel or jump in price.
But in a matter of hours we’ve gone from expecting a real all-screen iPhone… to a model that will keep the design lines of that leak, but won’t rid us of the cutout at the top center. One option is to put all the Face ID under the panel and leave a hole at the top for the camera like all other brands. And I don’t know if Apple will adopt it.
