In its three seasons, ‘The Revolt’ has hosted only one active politician in its three seasons. Yesterday he sat Pedro Sánchez in the middle of the pre-campaign and surpassed the best mark achieved with a leader by ‘El Hormiguero’ (the program that has exploited electoral campaigns for a decade and refined the use of politics in an entertainment program).
Sanchez and Broncano. David Broncano’s interview with Pedro Sánchez brought in 4,387,000 viewers and a 33.9% share on La1. 7,129,000 people watched at least one minute of the interview and total television consumption in that slot was up 18% from the previous Thursday. The interview took the audience away from its rivals and is the best data in the history of ‘La Revuelta’, whose previous ceiling was in Rosalia, 20.4%. It also surpassed the 4,049,000 visitors of Santiago Abascal in ‘El Hormiguero’ in 2019. And all in a program that has almost turned politicians into a habit of not inviting militancy.
Not a politician, less so. Broncano clarified in September 2024, the day before the premiere on TVE: “When we were at Movistar we didn’t interview politicians, and now I don’t know if we will.” The first exception took more than a year: on October 20, 2025, Gabriel Ruffian became the first active politician to pass by the set, and the presenter himself admitted on the air that “La Revuelta” was evaluated “every movement”.

On October 14, Broncano invited the four main candidates to go to his program and recalled that Ruffian was the only politician who had gone before. They argued that they were on public television, it was a campaign and it gave them “a responsibility”. Sanchez was the first to sit down. Ada Colau, candidate for Frente Amplio, Answered on the network Which he “gladly” accepts. Feijóo has not only adopted and maintained his criteria of interviewing RTVE in self-produced programs.
The motorcycle arrived quickly. The most systematic example of this fever to invite politicians to entertainment programs (Icar Jimenez’s ‘Horizonte’, despite its similarity in format, is more similar to a traditional political gathering) is in Antena 3, the longest successful program on Spanish television: ‘El Hormiguero’. During the electoral period from 2015 to 2019, ‘El Hormiguero’ has had 16 interviews with candidates, fourteen of them with the head of the list, with the addition of five visits where no election was observed.

The formula worked from the start. On November 3, 2015, Pablo Iglesias led the program to 21.7% and 3,823,000 viewers, the best segment in a ten-year broadcast for Motos. That fall, Sánchez was the least watched of the four politicians who passed through the set, with 2,836,000 viewers. Eight years later, a month before the July 2023 elections and already as president he scored 22.8% and 2,922,000 viewers, and the next day, Feijóo, 25.9%, all now surpassing ‘La Revuelta’.
Puita Sanchez took the opportunity to see Broncano to poke at his previous host. Asked if he would return to Antena 3, he replied that he would “go to ‘El Hormiguero’ and wherever needed” and that “the program is fine, but nothing more.” Motos was only 11.4% that night, with sports journalist Paco Gonzalez as guest. The rivalry between the two programs goes back a long way, with Broncano occasionally scoring several points over the course of several months share That later fails, and episodes such as the one where he responded to guest vetoes with twelve minutes of deer noises or the night when guests turned political on both sets.

Those fashion interviews. Controversy over the candidates is now taking place on the internet as well. On 8 October, Jordi Wilde announced a week of optional interviews for his podcast with no agreed questions, which Feijóo, Abascal and Colau have already accepted. Wilde later abandoned the requirement to interview everyone or none, and a message from Wilde tried the same move in the 2023 general election, and the idea failed.
promotion or business. Sanchez’s ‘La Revuelta’ tour had a complex nuance to the program itself. RTVE has renewed ‘La Revuelta’ for 31.5 million euros until 2028 and is considering reviewing the production contract once Feijóo reaches Moncloa in the PP environment. Sánchez used that uncertainty to his advantage and said he wanted to “renew for four years and if ‘La Revuelta’ wants it, four more years on television.” Hours ago, PSOE had accounts Writing to Broncano The future of the program depends on that interview. Next stop: Geordie Wilde. or not
