It’s clear that a robot vacuum cleaner is best if you want to vacuum with minimal effort. But if you want it to reach all corners and make an impact where it’s needed, unfortunately the best solution is to do it yourself. The good news is that you can vacuum and scrub at the same time thanks to those cordless vacuum cleaners – scrubbers that are slowly appearing on the market.
Now, what if your floor has many, many stains? Then the ghost of the old mop appears in your dreams because there’s nothing like manpower, hot water and detergent when push comes to shove. Well, Chinese Tineco (from Ecovacs Ecosystem) has a different proposition: remove those stubborn stains with steam. We tested the Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam Pro and this is our experience.
✅ Buy if…
- You have a big house.
- Your floors tend to get stained and stained.
- You want to vacuum and scrub at the same time.
❌ Do not buy this if…
- You have wood floors.
- You want a light cleaning device.
- Your budget is tight.
Essential within 30 seconds
The Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam Pro is a cordless mop that uses steam in addition to vacuuming and mopping at the same time. A more hygienic and deep clean. Go ahead and say it’s an extra function you don’t need to use if you don’t need it, but how useful is it in the kitchen, where debris falls (and gets stuck) on the floor more often than I’d like.
Although it has more functions than usual (silent mode, reverse, auto, steam and max), it is incredibly intuitive to use: put the base in a place with a plug nearby, fill the tank with clean water that you will find in the head and, if necessary, add some cleaning products (spoiler: it is not included and sometimes it will not be needed). From here press and slide the power button.
It vacuums and scrubs simultaneously, allowing you to save time in the home cleaning process. Strength is not an issue and I live in an apartment with two dogs weighing over 30 kg, although some hair resists the process and gets stuck (due to humidity), which is not the most pleasant thing in the world. The good thing is that when you’re done, simplicity returns: you place the device in the base, press a button, and within minutes it’s ready for your next session.

Our experience with the Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam Pro

A great design, literally. This Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam Pro is visually appealing, with finishes that mimic metal, light rings and a great color screen that lets you know how much battery is left or which mode you’re using. The handle has the necessary buttons to control it with one hand and since the tank is on the head, it helps in weight distribution. And the drawback of a scrubber vacuum cleaner is always the design: if it is light and small, you have to empty and fill the tank (with dirty water and clean water) often. If it is heavy, it is difficult to move.
This Tineco wants to get all and the truth, it’s close: I can clean my whole house and still have plenty left. Of course, it’s not small and it doesn’t feel light in the hand either, since it takes a bit to move. And if it’s difficult for me, my mother, who is already 70 years old and has some ailments, will find it downright annoying. On the other hand, it has a fairly wide roller (26 cm) with which passes can be stored, but inevitably there are places where it does not fit, and if it does not fit, it is not clean. The good thing is that you can put it completely horizontally and if possible, you can put it completely inside A detail I really appreciated: it comes with a light on the head, ideal for spotting stains and dirt

Very easy to use. It is true that it comes with an app that can be used for more information about the device, but it is completely unnecessary because well, although you can change the operating mode, it is not a robot vacuum cleaner that works alone and since it is in your hand, you change it with your finger. Thus, with one touch you can activate maximum or steam mode from silent mode, but my recommendation is that you set automatic mode (this way the device chooses the rotation speed and humidity) and forget about it… unless there is a hard spot that resists. Then switch to manual mode and activate steam.
Makes a difference in cleaning. Where it really surprised me was the clarity. Its roller rotates and continuously moistens, while the rubber plate at the end removes the excess and sends it to the tank. Plus, it sucks. Of course, don’t even think about using it with carpets because something will get them wet. It also has a reverse spin function that does what it promises, meaning a little more “rubbing” in practice. But let’s get to the most important thing: his last name is “Steam”. When a stain resists, we press harder and pass more, which ultimately means wetting the floor more, but this Tineco solves that by applying steam. Thus it cleans more and better and does not require cleaning products to sanitize the floor. And the best thing: it doesn’t keep the soil waterlogged. I tried with very dry coffee grounds and mano de santo.

Damn (but poor) maintenance. This minimalist base allows cleaning in two versions: a fast and quite noisy (especially drying), I recommend that you don’t put it on while sleeping or watching TV, or a slow but quiet one. But there is something that self-cleaning does not free you from time to time: emptying the dirty water tank and it is not pleasant at all. Yes, the tab is easy to pull and remove, but the dirty water mixture with the vacuum smells terrible, and it’s not pleasant to remove the filter and hit it with a brush, because of the smell and some of the drops may escape. On the other hand, the way to fill the clean water tank is not the best and certainly not the most comfortable. I have left things out from time to time.
Great battery. As I said before, the most recommended mode in terms of comfort and efficiency is car, which I have used the most. I have an apartment of about 70 square meters and using the automatic one, I used 10% of the battery to clean completely in less than 10 minutes. Obviously a very dirty home won’t be the same as one that isn’t, but its battery life is short. With max mode, I spent 21% cleaning the entire floor. From how well it delivers water and the size of its tank, the efficiency of the auto mode, the size of its roller and its battery, it’s clear that it measures up to the big house. However, if it runs out of battery, it charges moderately fast.

Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam Pro, review by Xataka

If we talk strictly about the quality of cleaning in terms of hygiene and stain removal, Tineco’s device is probably the best That we tried. It’s not the lightest, nor the most ergonomic, and of course, you’ll have to do more work than a robot vacuum cleaner, but being able to vacuum and mop at the same time, and being able to do it quickly and well, is its best asset.
However, it will not retire either the broom or the mop because there will be places where it does not fit and you will have to get out those classics. Perhaps the biggest drawback I’ve found with the Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam Pro is handling it properly: I’m moderately young and moderately fit and yet, at times I found it a bit uncomfortable. On the other hand, the maintenance is still not very pleasant, although it is not a question of the specific model but of the type of device itself: it needs to be given another spin to make it more pleasant.
Do I recommend it?
If you have a large room, with a tile floor and lots of stains on it, because you have small children in the house, pets or are prone to accidents (here we listen but we don’t judge), this is one of the most effective options (vacuum and scrub) to clean even tough stains at once as long as budget is not an issue. Of course, that large head works better in large spaces than in narrow spaces or corners, where it probably won’t fit.
