Oscar Puente announced his resignation as transport minister on Tuesday following the train crash in Urda (Toledo), which killed 69 people. The announcement came at the end of a more than four-hour appearance before the permanent deputation of the Congress of Deputies, where he explained the circumstances of the tragedy and the security measures planned by the government. Puente also confirmed that he was resigning from part of the PSOE list for the November 29 general election, a decision he justified by political status.
