Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates believes that uncontrolled artificial intelligence (AI) is a threat that continues to grow, and in an interview in October he expected an increase in AI-powered cyber attacks over the next twelve months.
immediate risk. For Gates, AI “getting out of control” is a danger for years to come. What’s important is something else: “The front that we’ll probably see most strongly next year is cyberattacks.”
No security measures. He worries about AI without safeguards: “But right now all those safeguards are allowed to be removed. So, when you don’t have bad guys, no safeguards, and don’t have the latest models,” next year, “especially in cyber, we’re going to have a lot of negative surprises.”

Companies are not enough. He also rejected that self-regulation of AI companies is enough to keep the world safe, an idea championed by US President Donald Trump, according to AFP.
“For the most dangerous technology ever invented by humans, this is the last word, that companies are the only control that society has (…) It is clear that we are not doing enough,” he concluded.
