Apple has announced a presentation for October 28 and all eyes are on the new MacBook Pro

Apple has made October a particularly intense month for its release calendar. Just a few days ago, the company focused its attention on the connected home with new devices that expand its catalog. But the activity did not end there, and everything indicated that There is still important news to know. This time, expectations revolve around a much more established product family, the Mac, and a possible transition that could reverse a decision Apple has maintained for years.

The confirmation came this Monday, from Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Greg Joswak, who released a brief message on X: “Can’t wait to go pro and tell you next week.” The play of words is accompanied by a call called “Pro and Tell” scheduled for October 28 in Los Angeles, where the company has invited journalists and content creators. For now, what has been announced is a private meeting: there is no official list of devices or confirmation that it will follow the format of a traditional broadcast presentation.

Here’s what we know about Apple’s next presentation

To understand the context of this new call, it is necessary to remember what happened on October 13. The Cupertino company presents HomeViewA device with a seven-inch screen designed to manage the home, along with a new HomePod Mini and a new generation Apple TV 4K. But there’s one important detail for those of us living in Europe: not all of these new features will be available under the same circumstances. Apple has confirmed that HomeView will not be marketed in the European Union at the moment due to the absence of Siri AI in iOS, while the other two devices will arrive in Spain, although initially without the new functions of this assistant.

The main focus of attention, however, will be on the next MacBook Pro. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing 14 and 16-inch models with OLED touch screens, M5 Pro and M5 Max processors and considerably lighter designs. They will also include Dynamic Island, a feature we know from iPhones. If confirmed, we’ll be facing an important change in philosophy for the company, which has avoided including touch controls on its laptop’s main screen for years. In 2018, Craig Federighi, Apple’s head of software engineering, defended the decision on ergonomic grounds.

Bloomberg puts three more products in possible news at the next meeting. The first will be one 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro upgradeEquipped with the M6 processor, while the second will match the renewal of the iMac, also with this chip. The third innovation will affect the iPad mini, which may debut an OLED screen to replace the LCD technology used so far.

Everyone talks about the iPhone Duo unlocking animation, but I think Android should copy something else: Continuity.

All in all, the October 28 event could be particularly interesting to understand where Apple wants to take its computers. Beyond a possible renewal of processors or screens, we’ll have the chance to test whether the company is willing to change one of the features that have historically distinguished its laptops from the iPad. If it does eventually introduce a touch MacBook, one of the big questions will be how it will adapt macOS to integrate that form of interaction with a keyboard and trackpad.
