Spy stories usually feature impeccable agents, capable of executing missions of the highest order with the most amazing technology. There is a fiction series that has been successful for years while betting on the exact opposite. It’s ‘Slow Horses’, from Apple TV+ and has finished its sixth season with 100% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Secret Service Purification. The plot follows several agents who are dismissed by MI5 after making serious mistakes; Nothing to do with ordinary innocent agents. Instead of firing them, the company confined them to an office in Slough House to deal with routine bureaucratic tasks.
The boss is Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), a dirty and very rude Cold War veteran. Next to him is River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), a promising agent who moves into Slough House after making a mistake during a training exercise. Although everything indicates that their careers are over, they are always involved in activities that keep the country’s security under control.
Enthusiasm grows with each delivery. The sixth season of ‘Slow Horses’ just ended and critics are falling in love with it all over again. As we said, it earned 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and the series averages 98% completion. The sentiment spread to other platforms such as IMDB, where it has a score of 8.4.
The anti-James Bond. Part of its appeal is how it avoids espionage clichés. There are no flashy spies with big cars or futuristic technology, but rather two disenfranchised agents who have to prove they’re still good for something. Gary Oldman and Jack Loden’s performances are among its best attractions, with its mix of political intrigue, black humor and action scenes avoiding taking its protagonist too seriously.
There will be more missions on the way. The sixth season began airing on Apple TV+ on September 16, 2026, and its sixth episode aired on October 21, 2026. If you have already watched all the available episodes, there is good news as two more seasons have already been confirmed Of course, you’ll have to wait to find out how it continues after that cliffhanger.
