A dog barks on the beach. This is the latest gameplay highlight of the most anticipated video game of all time, Grand Theft Auto VI. Curiously, Rockstar didn’t just release the video on its social networks or YouTube, but revealed a never-before-seen part of the game in the latest episode of South Park released tonight.
The clip shows Jason Duvall, one of the game’s protagonists, on a crowded beach, with the aforementioned dog doing his business. In the credits of the episode they thank Rockstar Games for providing the images, so yes, it’s real.
Grand Marketing of GTA VI begins. So far Rockstar has been pretty choosy about how it looks at GTA 6. Various trailers and extended looks on Netflix have given us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the game. Now we’re starting to see things about games outside of the original Rockstar channels, and the surprise in the South Park episode is the perfect example of that. The clip comes weeks ahead of launch, slated for November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Details. The scene is brief and deliberately crude. A dog relieves itself on the beach, and its owner is ready to clean it up. Jason then throws something at the man, and when the character confronts him, Jason picks up dog poop and hits him. So yes, everything indicates that players will be able to collect dog droppings, but they can also be used as a weapon.
The joke is silly, but the images speak volumes about the game’s technological ambitions. And in addition to the dog moments, the beach’s density stands out, the equivalent of the horse’s testicles animation in Red Dead Redemption 2, NPCs with different body types, their reactions, or details like footprints left in the sand. These are exactly the types of systems that Rockstar has built its reputation on.

A recurring gag. This is not the first time the series has taken aim at the game. And the current season of South Park has repeatedly touted the launch of GTA 6 as the moment when “things will get better” in the US, a shot at the national climate ahead of the November 3 election. A poster advertising the game was also shown in another episode.
right now. Rockstar recently released dozens of new screenshots and detailed information about map sizes. It’s clear that Rockstar is entering the phase where we’re going to see things in the game even in soup, so we’ll just have to sit back and wait and enjoy.
