The Fallout: New York project was only open to the public for a short time. On September 28, 2026, Chris is the first to publish an online game (Made, according to its author, with Claude Opus 5.5) that brought the world of Fallout to New York. It didn’t need to install anything.
It was a web game that, according to First, came with quests, a dialogue tree, VATS combat system, and a functional Pip-Boy (Fallout’s wrist gadget). Furthermore, according to its author, it had 117 different positions. It had 112 characters and 46 weapons.
Chris Furst assured in his presentation that “Every building, weapon, face and sound is generated by code”. There were no texture or sound files. This presentation publication has exceeded 3.5 million views on X.
In the closing announcement on October 1, he also criticized Bethesda for not making another Fallout and apologized to those who enjoyed the game.

Branding and domain rules
On the other hand, we understand the conflict better thanks to ZeniMax’s brand rules (updated on May 2, 2024). They indicate that, without written authorization or express permission, You may not use product or domain name branding elements. Additionally, they should not imply any kind of affiliation or endorsement by the company.
Therefore, anyone who wants to demo should take the domain into consideration. On the other hand, the guidelines indicate that games may be referred to in an informative manner as long as they do not lead to confusion. however, If it’s about showing off your own product using a franchise name, we’re in a different field.. This is true even if the code is regenerated.
Another area where confusion can occur is that there is a fallout: New York mode. This is a volunteer project run with Creation Kit. Their website makes it clear that they are not affiliated with Bethesda Game Studios. This project is different from the first one (which used a different domain, not fallout.nyc and falloutnyc.com).
This project is an example of programming through conversation with an AI (also called “vibe coding”). We have already discussed the limits of this practice. This is an exercise where we get a program that works, but needs further revisions. In this case, it was the choice of name and distribution (address) that was at the center of the claim.

Change announced by Chris Furst
however, Chris Furst didn’t throw all the work away. In his response on October 4, he indicated that ZeniMax was kind and asked him to remove the material. It also indicated that it was going to give them the domain.
On the same day he commented that he had made some changes in the game. I was still working on the story. It even offers a private link so they can try it out. It states that rights conflicts with these changes were eliminated (without this meaningful approval from Zenimax).
